Computer Programming

History of C++

It was invented in 1983 by Bjarne Stroustroup and developed by Bell labs. His inspiration was from other programming languages developed at Bell labs, such as BCPL and UNIX. The development of C++ started in 1980. The first manual of C++ was published in 1983 and was written by Bjarne Stroustroup. The formal release came in October of 1995, as did the C++ manual. The inventor, Bjarne Stroustrup had studied in the doctoral program at the Computing Laboratory at Cambridge University prior to joining Bell Labs. Now, Bell Labs no longer has that name since part of Bell Labs became AT&T Labs.  The other half became Lucent Bell labs.
